Common questions

Questions, answered.

Yes. The full Mind Space — thought capture, Zones, Threads, notes, reminders, memory files — is free, works offline, and never requires an account. The Apprentice plan (A$3.50/month) adds cloud sync across your devices, 5 GiB of media storage, note sharing, and the ability to create shared spaces.

Not for the core Mind Space — your thoughts live on your device, and everything works without signing in. An account is what unlocks cloud sync, note sharing, and shared spaces. Every new account starts with a 7-day Apprentice trial, no card needed.

On your device, first and always. On the free tier they stay there, backed up by memory files you control. With Apprentice, they also sync to the cloud so every device stays current. And deletion is gentle: thoughts pass through Archive and the Bin, where they're recoverable, before they're truly gone.

Yes. Mhisper is local-first — the web app installs to your device and runs with no connection at all. If you're on Apprentice, anything you change offline syncs quietly across your devices the next time you're online.

Zones are regions of your mind — Voronoi-tiled territories that hold related thoughts (Work, Personal, Dreams, etc.). A bubble can belong to more than one Zone. Threads are one-to-one links between specific bubbles — used for direct associations that cross Zones (e.g., an idea about billing connected to a UI rework).

Yes. The iOS app is live on the App Store, and the Android app is in beta testing — live soon. The web app at mhisper.app works on any device and can be installed like a native app in the meantime.

Yes. Give any thought a deadline or a recurring reminder, and keep inline tasks inside your notes. The mobile apps deliver native push notifications, so reminders reach you even when Mhisper is closed.

Shared canvases where a few minds think together. The owner shares the space's name, anyone who wants in requests to join, and the owner approves each person — no invite links, by design, so a space only ever holds people who were let in. Free accounts can join one space; creating your own needs Apprentice.

Yes, on Apprentice. Notes are proper documents — Markdown and the Fine Text rich editor, mentions, inline tasks — and Presenter mode lets you curate exactly how a note renders to a reader. Share one to a private link, and revoke it whenever you like.

A .mhisper file is an encrypted snapshot of your bubbles, Zones, Threads, and notes — a save file you own. Keep it anywhere you trust and load it on any device running Mhisper to pick up exactly where you left off, account or no account.

The memory file is unrecoverable. The passkey never leaves your browser, so there's no way for us (or anyone) to restore it. This is intentional — your memory is yours. Choose a passkey you'll remember, and consider saving a backup memory file somewhere you trust.

No — and we mean it plainly. Your notes and data are your intellectual property: private, safe, never used, sold, or deployed as any kind of resource, and never used or attributed for any purpose by Mhisper. You can also export everything as readable plain text or Markdown at any time — your thoughts, in a format you can read without us.

Nothing dramatic. Your local data is never touched — everything on your devices stays exactly where it is. Cloud copies are kept for 60 days in case you return, then removed. If you'd like a keepsake first, save a memory file or export to plain text.
